When a quiet branch is not a marketing problem
Branch performance review often starts with local ads. Sometimes the lease and the catchment disagree with the format.
Regional teams reach for leaflet drops and social bursts when a store’s weekly take softens. Those tactics help when awareness is the gap. They waste budget when the catchment no longer matches the range, or when rent reset after a review that assumed footfall from an anchor that has since left.
In branch performance review work we separate three questions: Is the catchment still large enough for this format? Is the unit still visible on the paths people use? Is the lease still affordable at realistic sales? Marketing sits after those answers, not before.
A midlands client once spent two seasons promoting a store whose nearest free parking had moved behind a new residential block. Until the journey was redrawn on a map, every campaign looked like a failure of creative rather than a failure of access.
