Retail expansion planning

A structured engagement to shortlist towns, pressure-test catchments, and sequence openings for your next two to five branches.

FormatAdvisory engagement with site visits
Typical duration4–8 weeks
DeliveryOn-site across your estate and candidate towns, plus remote workshops
FeesFrom £6,800 per engagement

Who this is for

Owners, managing directors, and regional retail leads who already run several stores and are ready to open more — but want a clearer view of which towns deserve capital before agents start circulating heads of terms.

What you receive

  • A scored shortlist of candidate catchments against your trading model
  • Footfall and competitor notes from walked high streets and retail parks
  • Lease and fit-out risk comments tied to each preferred unit type
  • An opening sequence with realistic lead times for recruitment, fit-out, and stock
  • A written brief your board or lenders can read without translation

What we do not do

We do not act as your commercial agent, negotiate rent on your behalf, or produce speculative property valuations. We stay on the decision side: where to expand, in what order, and under which trading assumptions.

How the engagement runs

  1. Estate briefing — share current store list, category mix, average weekly take, and any towns already under informal review.
  2. Field days — we visit shortlisted locations, note neighbouring anchors, parking patterns, and unit constraints.
  3. Working session — half-day workshop with your operations and finance leads to challenge the shortlist.
  4. Expansion pack — final recommendations, rejected options with reasons, and a suggested twelve-month opening calendar.

Preparation

Have twelve months of store-level sales (or the closest equivalent), current lease end dates, and a clear statement of the capital you can commit to new openings. If you already hold agent packs for specific units, bring them — we will treat them as inputs, not as proof.

Next step

Request a scoping call and tell us how many stores you run today and which regions you are considering. We will confirm whether expansion planning or a branch performance review is the better first move.
